The conflict between the Houthis and Israel in 2024

Starting with the events of 2024, the conflict between the Houthis and Israel intensified significantly:

  • July 2024: The Houthis carried out a drone strike on Tel Aviv, resulting in one fatality and injuring ten others. This marked the first time their attack reached the heart of Israel.
  • September 2024: A ballistic missile launched by the Houthis targeted central Israel. According to Israeli military reports, the missile broke apart mid-air, with debris landing in open areas and causing no major damage.
  • December 2024: The Houthis claimed responsibility for a strike using a "Palestine-2" hypersonic missile, aimed at the Jaffa district in Tel Aviv. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree confirmed the launch.

In response, Israel launched retaliatory strikes:

  • July 2024: The Israeli Air Force conducted airstrikes on the port city of Hodeidah in Yemen, which is under Houthi control. The targets included military installations, marking the first instance of direct Israeli military intervention in Yemen.
  • December 2024: Israel again targeted Houthi positions in Yemen, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding national security amid continued Houthi attacks.

This escalation between the Houthis and Israel in 2024 underscores the intricate geopolitical challenges and mounting tensions across the Middle East.
